VHS Video Recorder - Panasonic NV-SJ210B-K "Superdrive"
This VCR plays UK (PAL) VHS video cassettes. It has been checked, and is all working, apart from what is noted below.
When a tape is inserted, it laces up - but the two guides at either side of the head don’t pull the tape all the way to the back, and they stop 1cm away from the end of their travel. This means the tape isn’t quite in the right position against the head, and gives a poor picture. This should be an easy case of removing any dried up grease, and checking the lace timing. I quickly pushed the guides into position with a screwdriver on lace-up, and the picture was perfect, so an ideal project for someone willing to strip the deck down and investigate - or a perfect machine for parts!
It comes complete with a power cord, but will require an ariel (RF) cable, or scart cable to connect to your TV. This is a basic, but excellent VCR to check old tapes, or transfer your recordings to digital formats. There is no remote control, but the standard functions of play, fast forward, rewind, record (etc) are all on the machine. It also boasts “NTSC playback on PAL tv”
